--Steve Jobs takes it to the music industry over DRM. "Imagine a world where every online store sells DRM-free music encoded in open licensable formats. In such a world, any player can play music purchased from any store, and any store can sell music which is playable on all players. This is clearly the best alternative for consumers, and Apple would embrace it in a heartbeat."
--Meteorite found that is reportedly older than the solar system. "These little particles within the meteorite seem to predate everything else. We don't know exactly how old they are, but they could be billions of years older than the rest of the meteorite"

Forget glaciers: The New Yorker has a piece on the increase of CO2 emissions and their grave effects on the oceans. Carbon dioxide absorbed into the sea dissolves to produce carbonic acid, which over time can and is dramatically affecting the pH level of the ocean. This ocean acidification process could lead to the extinction of shell creatures, erosion of coral reefs, and within a few hundred years an ocean that comes close to being acidic -- and it may be impossible to stop.
Eep.
Something to show your grandkids when you're telling them how you survived that Great Blizzard of Dickety-Three: Preserve a snowflake for decades using only superglue. Just capture a flake or two on a microscopic slide, cover it with the powerful adhesive, and pop it in a freezer while it hardens. "The tendencies of superglue to seep into the tiniest nooks and crannies, harden on contact with water, and solidify rapidly make it perfect for taking an impression of something that is very small, made of water, and ephemeral."
Wait no, there's something else some of us would need for this. It's -- oh yes. Cold weather.
